Are there any good vintage shops in LA? Hell even non vintage. I will be mostly in the area around the convention center. |

You are referring to Los Angeles, correct? If so there is Beverly Hills Basecall card shop located on Robertson Blvd. The owner is Matt and he is a good guy and has a nice selection to choose from in pre-war. Don't think they are open on Monday and it would not be very far from downtown to get to. |

I would second the recommendation of Beverly Hill Cardshop on Robertson. Matt is a great guy and the shop has been there for about 20 years. It is one of the survivors. He usually has quite a bit of vintage inventory, but you have to ask him about it since he does not keep it in the cases. Matt is one of the good guys in the hobby. |

I had one unpleasant transaction on ebay with the Beverly Hills cardshop. In the days before paypal I won an auction and called them the very next day and paid with a credit card...after weeks passing and not receiving the cards I called them and they said they had no record of me paying them and they were extremely rude about it. I waited for my credit card bill to show up and sure enough the charge was on my bill so I called them back and finally they told me they must have made a mistake...it still took them a couple of weeks to ship out my cards. No apology, and no positive feedback from them. |

I used to be into collecting the vintage star wars toys...even bought some foreign toys from James many years ago, but I sold off my collection when I had a kid and bought a house. I had a complete mint set of the figures loose and somewhere around 100 figures mint on the card...and most of the vehicles still in boxes. I sometimes miss them, but I don't miss all the space they took up when I had them. |

No reason I have to just mess with Star Wars while I am in LA. I am hitting the Dogers game Wednesday night and figured I might be able to do some card hunting as well. |

If you're looking for bargains and selection I think you're going to be disappointed wherever you go. Matt's shop is about 6 blocks from my studio, and while I agree he's a great guy you're going to find a lot more on ebay at much better prices. He and TJ Schwartz (Porky's in Woodland Hills) have the best selection of vintage cards of any store in LA County, but for the most part I've found when I'm in another town I've had a lot better time meeting up with board members for a beer than pouring over books of cards at 99% of mint beckett. Overhead for card shops is just too high to find anything reasonable, IMO. |

I'm sorry, but every time I think of Star War collectors, I think of Eric on the '70s Show. It's not a pretty image I tell you...but I'm sure that Eric is not representative of Star Wars collectors. |

I was just kidding Peter, but in all reality Star Wars collectors are trying to recapture their childhood memories as well. |

Gilbert: I just wanted to say that I'm a nerd, and I'm here tonight to stand up for the rights of other nerds. I mean uh, all our lives we've been laughed at and made to feel inferior. And tonight, those bastards, they trashed our house. Why? Cause we're smart? Cause we look different? Well, we're not. I'm a nerd, and uh, I'm pretty proud of it. |
