Hi Steve, I hope I'm wrong here, but I think your postcard IS one of the 1978 Dovers. I have 3 of the Dovers: Hornsby, Frisch, and Bresnahan. They are all in the same format as yours. The careers of the 3 players I have ranged from the early 1900s to the mid 1930s. I don't believe any postcards had the same format for such a long period of time. In addition, your Jackson PC is worn right down the middle, where the 1978 Dover info would be. Thats probably not a coincidence. Also, all the Dovers are perforated on at least 3 sides, notice the wear on yours. There is one difference though.....The Dovers have a place for a stamp and yours don't. My gut feeling still is that your card is a 1978 Dover. Hope this helps. Hope I'm wrong. |

I see what you mean by the wear. I have the Dover book with all the cards inside and have compared it. If it is not original, it was taken out of the book and trimmed to make it look real. The only thing I can't figure is the copyright on back. You would think that anything reprinted would have to have a copyright printed on it, but I could be way off base in that assumption. |

It's the Dover. Aside from the printing issues, another way to tell is the byline on the back. Hornsby (#2 on the list) didn't retire until after the '37 season. |
