They were distributed in machines that dispensed strip cards. They are worth at least $10 apiece for commons and Covaleskie is worth probably 2-3X that.

The W575-2's were made by the Kromo Gravure Photo Co.

Most (if not all) of the Kromo Gravure cards were issued in a boxed set (all cards machine cut), though a complete box has never been seen for the baseball set of 40 cards. But somehow the name has been connected to the set for awhile now (see 2007 SCD)

W cards = sold without a product.

ie. in boxed sets ('39 Cincinnati & St.L team sets, Berk Ross), through machines (Exhibits), for an album, or in sheets or strips.

W is correct for a boxed set. A "W" card is a strip card, or can be a boxed set, or Exhibit card, premium (W554), etc.

Some sets are messed up because of lack of info when the ACC was put together. The R315 and R316 should be "W" cards. W503 and maybe W555 and W502 should be "E" or "F" cards. W600 should be an "M" card.

Thanks Frank....I always assumed W4XX was the Exhibits and the W5XX was the strip cards. I never really thought much past that with regards to the W cards.

They are not hand cut and can be found in two different size variations, both machine cut, with one style being noticeably thinner side to side. I think I have gone into detail on this set at least 4-5 times in the past on this forum, but they should not be considered strip cards by any means.

I feel PSA mistakenly lists/grades the w575 and w502's as "hand cut." I really like these cards, but I do not like the PSA slab saying hand cut. How can we get PSA to change their labeling? Or get PSA (the supposed masters) prove they were infact hand cut. Has anyone ever seen an original sheet or strip of these cards ? ANYONE from PSA pleased reply. Thx.

The only thing close to a W575-2 strip/sheet that Ive ever seen in over 25 years is that schedule pair that Leon has, and its the only example of that Ive seen.

Another set that is not handcut is the W574's. They might even be a candy issue like the W503's.

Not to hijack, but no way are W502s hand cut. They're all the same size, they've all got the same shape to the corners (square).

I'm not sure they were a candy issue - I don't think anybody knows for sure - but usually with hand-cut cards you'll find some with jagged edges, closely-cropped borders, even torn edges. I'm working on this set and trying to assemble as much research on it as I can find, and one thing I'm confident in is that they weren't strip cards.
