I have seen for many years the late 1920's Exhibits (often called 1926-29 Postcard Back Exhibits) broken down into sets called "set 81" and "set 82". These names are often used by Lew Lipset, as Ive seen him use these names for them for the last 25 years (he has some auctions up right now on eBay that use these names). |

I'm guessing that the numbers derive from Elwood Scharf's series of articles published in the old Trader Speaks. I don't know if those were numbers he assigned or whether he was picking them from somewhere else, but I do recall his numbering each set of exhibits he discussed. Hope that helps. |

Email a note to Lew, he will be able to tell you I would think. |

The names derive from Woody Scharf's articles in TTS but later research has proven that the distinctions made in the articles between Set 81-82-83 aren't really meaningful. It is best to look at the whole issue as a series of overlapping printings. I will have an article exploring this set in depth in a future Old Cardboard. |

Does Mr. Lipset ever post here?? If you email him, could you copy me with his response or post the response here? |
