My collecting niche lately seems to be the "high grade low grade" cards - i.e. nice looking cards with low grades (nothing higher than a 30/2). Ive posted some of these before, but I thought it would be interesting to see some others. |

This might be the best POOR conditioned card I have. I have seen 3's that barely look this good...this sort of grading is a joke to me...no creases or wrinkles, nice eye appeal, and chipping on the back mostly contained in the blank areas....with a tiny bit of paper loss on a letter or so....just got this from a board member last week... |

This is a fine looking PSA2! Buy the card, not the grade! |

From what I've seen, GAI is a LOT fairer with paper loss that SGC. |

Barry, each card has a small amount of paperloss on the reverse. The Donovan has the most layers of paper missing and the largest affected area, hence the lower grade. |

you struck the nail on the head: AN N54 GRADING CO. i'VE ALWAYS FELT THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD, SINCE WE OWN ALMOST EVERY TYPE OF CARD MADE, ARE MORE QUALIFIED TO GRADE CARDS. |

don't forget guys - the backs are not shown (except for Leon's card). most of these probably have back damage that causes the grade. So the grades could be absolutely correct, but still have a great looking card...until you turn to the back. Leon's card on the other hand - wow, that looks great. |

cmoking - you are correct, most of the posted cards (at least mine) do have some degree of paperloss on the back. However, I think the point barry is making is that its not right that a small amount of paperloss can get you a 10 while a creased and stained card that looks terrible but has no paperloss can still grab a 30 or 40. At least to me, that isnt right. I will post scans of the back of the cobb tonight - it has two small spots of paperloss - more than Leon's for sure, but nothing that should drop the grade all the way from a 70 or 80 to a 30. |

I think Hal's is ok as it really should have been a 10 like mine. I think a see a spec of chipping on the back of his e107, under magnification.....Actually that's an awesome card for the grade... |

Leon, I agree, compared with your card, Hal's is clearly overgraded and should be resubmitted to SGC for an appropriate downgrade. |

There's not enough room on this thread for all the atrociously low graded 1909 Obaks I have had graded by SGC and PSA. I don't have the time and or money to crack them open and send them (cross-over) to each other but one PSA 1 graded out as an SGC 40 and I had an SGC 20 graded out as a PSA 4. Both cards were cracked out first. There is no rhyme or reason to the way they grade Obaks, especially 1909s.... |

The following card has very difficult to see texture difference on the back of the card. There is a toning difference but it's not grossly pronounced. This could indicate album removal but the texture difference is very minimal. |

I've been watching a bunch of auctions lately, and I can't believe the grades these cards have as opposed to the grades of the cards up for auction. It seemes there might be a biased "look" going on here.Do "big time collectors" have that much clout, when it comes to the grading? |
