Me too, but only because I already have so many cards from those sets. My HOF collection is also a type card collection, and I'm trying to get as many card types as possible. |

It's one of the reasons I'm glad not to be in the trap of expensive pre-war collecting. I can collect what I want, when I want, without feeling obligated to buy players I don't care about. It's really nice to sell some of those common t206 or Goudey players and get a card that is unique. Doing this has turned me to sets I never knew about when my focus was so narrow. One of the aspects I love about cards is the constant search for something interesting, and perhaps unknown. |

This is pretty much the premis that my player set is built on. I'd much rather have a card from an obscure set than from one that is mainstream. I'll take an m116 over a t206, a 1936 Goudey over a 33/34 Goudey. I love r312s and other simialr type cards like Goudey wide pens, etc. |

I just go for the ones that speak to me, the ones I personally think are the best looking. Often they are from popular sets; sometimes they are not. Popular sets like T206 are popular for a reason (beyond their general availability). |

I enjoy collecting 39 Play balls as I like black and white cards. I started collecting them because the other set I am collecting will take a while and I feel like I am getting somewhere with the Play balls. As far as representing a certain player I would agree that there are much cooler sets that are a lot more interesting than the common sets mentioned in the first post. |

I too, collect HOF'ers, although I've narrowed the focus down to primarily pre-war. I also like to have more uncommon cards versus the obvious ones. I did get my first T206 that I own in the mail from Colt today and I have to admit, I'm happy to now have a nice T206. I probably won't pursue any more from the set though. |
