Best way to remove stains

I have a t206 with a coffee colored stain on the border. It's only about a 1/4 inch long. But i would really like to remove this without damaging the card itself. Is this possible ? Also the best way to remove excess paper from a scrap book left behind when the card was removed.

I thought i remembered someone saying this could be done relativly easily without damage.

For a coffee stain, you probably need to go to an expert in paper restoration, and it won't be cheap. For glued on paper, it all depends on the type of glue. If it's water soluble, you can carefully wet the excess paper with, for example, a crumpled up paper towel. Once you apply enough water, the paper will come free. Usually, the water does no harm, but there's always a risk. If the glue is not water soluble, I think you may have to go to a paper restorer.

What if it's not coffee ? The color is that light brown but it could be anything. Would distilled water work ? I was thinking about rubbing it with a damp q-tip. I figure if it removes it great if not oh well. I just don't want to ruin the card.
