October 11, 1911 - The first MVPs are announced and Ty Cobb receives the maximum 64 points. The NL winner is Cubs outfielder Frank Schulte, with Christy Mathewson second. Both winners receive Chalmers automobiles.

This is Schulte's 20 HR, 3B, 2B + SB year. Had never been done before, and only Mays would join him as the other to accomplish this (apparently no too difficult, but is) feat.

Why did Miller Huggins get almost as many votes as Wagner? For batting an impressive .261?
