How do you determine a grade for a strip card? Since i am under the impression that these cards were hand cut by the consumer after purchase. If that is indeed the case, what's to stop a current collector from trimming a bit more to make the card look nice and clean. Is it there for assumed that a "trimmed" card doesn't really exist since they are all technically trimmed. Does the width then come into play? Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

The great conundrum of slabbing cards. How can they grade strip cards with recent trim jobs yet reject non-strip cards for trimming? I'd love to see the slabbers make a note if there is evidence of recent trimming. It's not that hard to tell. |

Strip cards will not be graded unless they meet the appropriate dimensions, such as 1 3/8 by 2 1/2 for w-514s. Otherwise, the card will not receive a numeric grade but labelled authentic instead. |

But the question is, why grade a strip card that was oversized and cut down to "standard" dimensions by someone very recently, yet they won't grade an oversized t206 that has been cut down to "standard" dimensions? |

They grade them because it makes them money, period. Grading isn't for the hobby, it is to make money. Please reference Jim's article in VCBC. |
