Now PSA, SGC, and GAI have registries. I happen to like GAI's idea the best, in that you can still register PSA or SGC cards. SGC and PSA force you to have your items graded by their own graders. While they might think it encourages more crossovers, it does prevent folks from wanting to participate. If you have an SGC card with a print mark, you wouldn't want to crossover to PSA and get qualifier tagged. Additionally, not that it's a huge deal, but you would lose the "first graded" tag to move over to one of the others. |

The registries are for the individual collectors anyway. At least that's what I believe in most cases. You can lift reg #'s from Ebay auctions or internet pics. |

To me, not at all. But, you do see a lot of folks that are quite proud of it. I guess they don't realize that there are very few GAI "1st graded" examples where PSA and SGC haven't had several slabbed. |

Agree with Will that GAI's concept is pretty much an admission of the lack of high grade GAI-only sets. At present, there are only a dozen baseball collections listed and the majority of them are under 5% completion. Hardly a strong selling point for GAI. Additionally, most of the cards listed are graded by PSA. Advertisement for your competiton is certainly a marketing no-no. |

That's the sad part, It's a marketing no-no. One more example of how the hobby has nearly become extinguished and has become completely business. |

I gave permission to Steve Rocchi to put a few of my PSA sets on the GAI registry and nit looks like there are 3 or 4 up there. My understanding was he was going to ask Don, Charlie and Marshall to put certain of there psa sets on the GAI registry. |

I am not an expert on copyright infringement but did SGC or PSA authorize this use of their work. SGC and PSA probably both enjoy the free advertising for their products, but down the road, can SGC or PSA ask GAI to remove information from a GAI website or to stop engaging in using their work? |

I think I will Register it just for fun~. Wes,why would anyone who colleects cards have the slightest concern over grading services copyright laws? Why would any collector care about their legal issues! |

You and I would not care at all Brian. But companies that invest a lot of money to build up their brand names and sell their products might care about these things. Again, I know nothing about IP.....just wondering whether it could happen. |

Wesley, your point is legitimate. However, I think PSA might like it if top rated sets in the GAI registry were PSA. Or, at least, they, and the folks at the CU board, would be amused. |

promotes the other. if you own a check cashing business you want it right next door to another one! That is how you incur more business. It's good for all of them~ |
