A couple of months ago my son Chris, who is a voracious reader, asked if he could look at some of my vintage collecting books. I found this funny since he has shown little interest in baseball cards and lots of interest in cards featuring little Japanese monsters and robots. He picked out Lipset's encyclopedia and a 2004 SCD Catalog. After reading those several times I offered to let him take home the 2004 standard catalog (he lives with his Mom) and since then he has shown a growing interest in vintage material. His mother allows him some monitored time on Ebay and his seemingly mild interest turned to action last night when he placed a bid on his first pre-war card. When he bid on that card, he had to outbid another ebayer and that other ebayer was.....ME.

Irony has hit the Baxter household like a freight train.
