I am currently the high bidder...

but I just picked up another copy of the card in a "slightly" higher grade...

so I just wanted everyone to know that ONE MORE BID can make you the high bidder on the card!

Please buy it to help me and to help the consignor (Andy)!

Thanks! - Hal

BMW was asking $50K for that card on their website. I'm not sure if Hal paid that much though. Mine (in the Mastro Auction) can be had for much less.

I gave BMW a mixture of cash and cards. The final price was hefty, to say the least.

Here are some of the cards I traded to them:

Sounds like someone is a good salesman.... I would like to have the SGC 96 O-pee-Chee Dimaggio Brian has. I think that is a little harder than the World Wide. Both are very desirable to own though.

Yes, Brian is a good salesman. Fair but firm.

Yes, I am a sucker. But you only live once.

Yes, those cards I traded to BMW were all "extras" that I no longer needed.

Yes, the O-Pee-Chee DiMaggio card is awesome, but I was only focused on getting the rookie card.

Yes, the back of the 1936 card call him "Deadpan Joe" DiMaggio, which is a great nickname that unfortunately didn't stick.

Yes, the Zeenuts DiMaggio cards are great and rare, but I am standing firm on my promise to NOT start collecting Minor League cards.

Yes, the 1914 Baltimore News Ruth is a Minor League card.

Yes, Andy's card in MASTRO is still very desirable and should be snatched up immediately!

...and YES, I still need one of you kind souls to swoop in and bid on that DiMaggio card!

If I win it ... I will just BURN IT to increase the value of the one I have.

Is this a "real" card Hal? It's a Canadian issue you know. . . .

Don't worry there is still time to bid on Andy's Diaz Ruffing. . .

Thanks!

Listen to how great Brian at BMW is being:

We agreed on "guaranteed trade-in values" for my cards...

but if they sell on EBay for MORE than those amounts...

BMW is going to give me a CREDIT for the additional amounts!!

In other words, they had the guts to step up and offer me fair prices for my cards... but they are also willing to let ME benefit if the cards sell on EBAY for MORE than those amounts!!!

For instance: Look at the T205 Johnson! It is obviously going to sell for more than my "trade-in" price... so I will reap the benefits on my next purchase from BMW!

SO....

PLEASE START BIDDING LIKE CRAZY on the Speaker, Anson and DiMaggio cards that BMW is selling!!!!

Just my opinion, but the previous message seems to be more self-promotion than praise of BMW.

Now if I could only stop those runaway juries from being seduced by plaintiffs' lawyers!
