Thanks for all of your messages regarding my other post. In my new enthusiasm for baseball cards ( now I know they may actually be worth a bit!) I have gone through the rest of the box thoroughly and found some more baseball cards and a boxer. At last a name I recognise - Dempsey. I am also guessing from your messages that the Anson one may be of interest. I have also included a few from some of the other sets just in case anyone can shed some light on their worth or give links to collectors sites of horse racing, famous americans, porn! etc. |

is from the Kinney N224 set. They generally sell in the $5-$10 range. The horse racing one in lower right is from Kinney N225 Set I believe. Think there are two sets--one of American horses and one European. They sell in the same range. The Allen Ginter flag in the bottom middle is pretty common although really nice graphics. They sell for about the same amount in good condition. The Anson is nice looking but really short. Wonder if it might have been cut from an advertising piece. Is the thickness about the same as the Allen Ginter flag in bottom center? If there's printing on the back, it's a normal card but looks to be badly trimmed like the Buchners. Still a nice group in any condition and stuff that we all LOVE here at the Net54 BB........... |

Thanks for the information Tom. The Anson card is thinner than the flag card. I have 16 like this which appear to be from the same set. None of them have any writing on the back, they all seem to have had the backs removed. Maybe they were stuck in an album and peeled off? You may of course be right about them being promotional pics, I hope not! |

The "Jack Dempsey" is not the Jack Dempsey you are thinking of. The boxer of the 1920's took his ring name from this 19th century boxer. |

It looks like you have a nice box of cards. Consider this, it appears that a lot of them have been trimmed or cut. This has a great impact on the value of the cards. None the less, they are nice to look at. I am providing a scan of a Kalakaua I card that has not been trimmed. The card you have pictured probably came from a card similar to this. |
