tbobI've noticed the past few years that about a week before Christmas until two weeks after Christmas that there is a lot of impulse buying on ebay. I assume it could be the season as perhaps collectors are grabbing things and justifying their purchases by saying they are merely acting as Santa's agent for present shopping. Or perhaps it is easier to justify to the little woman as a "Christmas present" that couldn't be passed up. Or maybe it is the fact we are already charging the heck out of our credit cards so what is another couple of hundred dollars. For whatever reason, I am kind of surprised there haven't been more quality vintage cards offered with BINs this time of the year. Maybe we'll see some in the next couple of weeks.
I had, perhaps foolishly, hoped that there would be some nice caramel cards offered up on ebay for cash to buy Christmas presents (or even rent and food in this wonderful economy), but the caramel card drought continues.
It's funny that 10-20 years ago collectors couldn't give caramel cards away, everyone wanted the "real" ones, tobacco cards. Caramel cards were the red headed step children of the vintage card collection. A few
visionaries jumped on the HOF caramel cards, but commons were very common and everyone wanted T206s and their brothers. Things sure have changed.
Happy holidays y'all...
