The actual card image is smooth and there is no hatch pattern. My scanner does not do a very good job on the dot pattern of m116s for some reason.

That pattern happens to me when the resolution (DPI) is set too high. I don't think its your scanner or the brand. I set my DPI to 300 and it comes out just fine.
