Does anyone know anything about this piece? Is it considered a "Kreig & Co. Cubs Base Ball Mail Card"?

It is a fold out postcard made in 1907. I have not seen many offered for sale. In this condition I think it should end around $200-$275. But, ya never know! Especially with it being posted on the board before the auction ended.

From what I understand they were commonly used as accordians during the depression,which explains their current rarity. It also explains why 1930s music sucks.

The value is posted on page 210 of the new Standard Catalog of Baseball cards. As most would agree, Lemkes guide is just a guide. Experience also helps in estimating the value...

They didn't mention T.F. Brown and some of the other portraits, but otherwise it seems to be described accurately. 2000 near mint, 600 VG. True, there's no picture.

Is the guy who keeps asking if Nick is telling the truth the actual owner of the card? If so, it sounds like he is really fishing around among others who might be interested in the card, which should be done in the "buy/sell/trade" thread.

If not, then I don't understand why he is questioning what Nick told him - Nick is an honest guy who has no incentive to deceive someone who is simply requesting information. Nick provided it - end of story.

If every time I posted something here, some new guy asked others to verify that I was telling the truth, including posting my emails, I think I would leave.

No mention of TF Brown & no photo? I'm not convinced that this item is the one SCD is talking about. No disrespect to Nick intended. Has anyone seen/bought or sold this item before? That would be a question for this forum, not B/S/T.

To all 'rookies' looking to sell your vintage items, DO NOT accept the early offers of some the 'regulars' so they can brag about the the way they ripped you off by getting you to end your acution early. Stay the course & let your auctions go the distance. You'll regret it if you don't.

-With the seams having come apart in "2" places and the missing portrait of the president, I think the item did quite well. That is one Frank Chance item that will remain on the want list.

Just a quick snynopsis of this rediculous thread:

As you and most everyone here knows I am an agressive buyer of Frank Chance cards. I saw the afore mentioned postcard and I emailed the seller a few hours after the auction started and made him an offer of $300. Which considering past sales of the card and SC book value I thought it was a fair offer. The card had a few torn panels and is missing the team presidents panel. He rejected the offer then posted my email that contained my cell phone number on this board. He was asking the board if anyone can verify if what I was saying about the book value was true. Which made it look like he was fishing for a better offer or he was calling me a liar. Anyway, the auction ended higher than I offered him so he did well to reject my offer.

I am often the high bidder or one of the top bidders on most Chance items, but on this one I was not about to bid again. I hope the buyer enjoys the card, for now it will remain on my want list.
