I'm curious what people think about 10-day auctions. Does anybody on the board use them and believe that they bring more bids? Anybody feel strongly the other way? I know I tend to think in terms of the one-week cycle and occasionally don't bid because I forget about a longer auction. |

on higher dollar items (whatever your threshold may be...$750 or higher, for exapmle), having a ten-day auction that crosses over two weekends helps ensure that the busy, rich people who may not check Ebay all the time have the opportunity to see your auction and can set their bids or snipes. |

As someone who has run a lot of 10 day auctions, it is my opinion that the extra 3 days is not a big deal and the seller isn't missing something magical by not not having 10 day auctions. However if you have a special item or simply want to have your auction run longer in the hope of catching that Day 8 browser, there's nothing wrong with it. It's only 10 cents extra ... I mostly don't use 10 day auctions anymore because I largely found it to involve a wasted extra three days (instead of bidding on day 6 or 7, people bid on day 9 or 10), and it's more convenient to handle items for the shorter duration. |

I agree with Mark that big dollar items should get the 10 day exposure. On the smaller items, I think that a 7 day or shorter exposure is optimal. It seems that the adrenaline rush you get when you first spot an auction of interest seems to fade by the time a 10 day auction ends. |

I like 10-day auctions. If I start an auction on Thursday, it ends on Sunday. By Sunday, my 2nd 10-day auctions have kicked off and the first group of bidders have 3 days to run across my 2nd group of auctions. So it's the overlap I'm after. |

to think that, for months, I ran a ton of 7-day auctions every week and bumped the start day back a day or two to take advantage of that very same overlap... |
