I recently saw a Wm Patterson card on Ebay. I found mine and noticed it was yellow/sepia and glossy in comparison. Is mine legit? |

Glen--the cards I have seen from this issue always have been black and white photos. This doesn't mean that your sepia Carey is a fake--seeing the scan before reading your message, it just looked 'funny' to me because it wasn't black and white. |

Here is one which was sold by Mike Wheat, depicting John McGraw, and it is most definitely sepia, as well...and most certainly comes from a reputable dealer: |

Also, notice the Daubert card in the scan (in the first posting in this thread)has an extra number '8' that is larger than the other printed number. |

Like a few other vintage issues, this one was most likely produced on two different types of stock, using two different printing presses (York Caramels did this as well). I think both are types are legitimate. This could mean that the card was produced at two different points in time (2 or more years), and/or the original stock was used up and the second stock was then used. |
