1911 T-205s Gold Border

I was thinking of starting to work on collecting 1911 Gold Border T-205's. I'm not particularly desperate to get the NMT examples but just cards that are presentable.

Any advice for a first time collector of Pre-War cards? Things to be aware of? I was considering registering it with PSA or SGC.

I have been collecting cards from the 50's 60's and 70's for 15 years. Just never ventured to the real vintage stuff before. One thing I've learned with the things I've collected over the years is get knowledgeable before you start plunking down money
