I know it's way too early, but I was wondering who was planning on going. It looks like I will be there---the wife and kids are on board with spending some time in Atlantic City. Does anybody have any ideas regarding hotels and/or activities for a 10 and 12 year old?

I will be attending and know that a lot of the board members will be also. It probably is a little early to get many folks on the bandwagon... As far as kids are concerned, if I am not mistaking, they can gamble as long as you are with them ...So, see there., you are all fixed up...... should be fun.....

For kids there is the boardwalk and the beach. also each casino has a game room for children which is supervised and a parent must sign childen in and out. trump marina has a baseketball court also

I will be attending the show as well. I was just recently in Atlantic City on a job trip and there is a ton to do on the boardwalk - everything from the beach to games and booths. As for the Casino, I just turned 21 and happened to notice that noone is allowed on the floor who is under 21. I'm not sure how strict they are about children, but I didn't really see any walking around while I was there. (not that I was really looking though)

on the weekends during the summer the hotels are pretty much booked and run at least 400 a night at one of the casinos, your best bet is one of the hotels that doesnt have a casino, and then you should expect to pay close to 300 a night.

I can rent someone out a room for half that much and they will get free transportation on the 2 days im going(probably thursday and sunday).....find your own ride on the days im not

It's 2.9 miles from boardwalk/casinos/convention center. Hopefully not skank-city or anything but Hampton's are generally decent hotels--especially if new. Like $69-$79 for Wednesday/Thursday and jumps to $99 for Friday/Saturday.

$300-$400 a night for rooms???? Holy ripoff Batman!! Even the Venetian during convention season in Vegas charges "only" $250 a night for a basic room. Anyone know what hotels are closest to the convention center?

i think there is a hotel by the convention center, maybe the hilton or marriot. the nearest casino hotels are trump and ceasars.

All the Ritz Carlton's are ridiculous. But we're talking about Atlantic City. A casino town. Hotels should be cheap and abundant.

The trick is to lose a whole bunch of money gambling in the hotel you're staying at. Then they feel compelled to comp your stay. Happens to me almost every time I go to Vegas.

Vegas is a different animal from Frantic City.

In Las Vegas, they know they will get most of your money sooner or later so they let you stay relatively cheaply and let you eat for next to nothing. Atlantic City is different. They want ALL of your money and charge accordingly.

Everyone always says that you can eat cheaply in Vegas. I have been there about 3 times in the last 8 years and have yet to find that place...and I have eaten at most of the casino's etc......Of course this is coming from a person who's favorite restaurant is any "ALL YOU CAN EAT" buffet regards all

I came home with a case of hepatitis A for my troubles. Stay far, far away from the cheapie buffets.

LV has a number of really great restaurants now, so much so that when I go I plan on dropping $300-$400 a night on fine dining.
