I wish to note that the before mentioned guide 'News Service Photographs' is officially for sale. It's a small 35 page booklet, and gives a brief but thorough background for 1900-1999 Wirephotos, newspaper and magazine photos, file photos, press photos and all the rest. It covers the essentials, including understanding stamping, captions, production marks and writing, identification, dating, fakes and forgeries. I even left in a couple of mispellings to keep Elliot occupied. The price is $8 shipped, which is $1 cheaper than offered on eBay. If interested email me at the above address.
