Default Ebay Auth Failure: I'm Losing My Mind

Can someone tell me how I screwed up my description. My T3 Tris Speaker failed authentication because of errors in my listing. Here's my description:

"Selling As Is. T3 Turkey Red Tris Speaker #36. SGC 1.5. I sold this card June 27, but the case broke in transit to Ebay Authentication. Could not complete sale due to damaged case. Card and holder will be shipped to you, and you can resubmit to SGC, or send it to another authenticator, or set it free to be returned to its natural environment outside of encapsulation. Please note missing paper bottom left corner, and missing paper near center left of image. Questions? Please message me. Normally a buyer on ebay, please see my positive reviews. Also a member of the vintage hobby group Net54."

Here's the note from ebay:
Auth? Yes
Listing Accuracy: Issue Found

I verified your item is authentic. However, the items description does not match the listing description. Issue Found include: the encapsulation of your graded card is significantly scratched or damaged, and was not disclosed in your listing. Please relist your item with accurate description and photos.

Reason for return: Doesn't match description of photos.

Here's a photo from my listing.

I would say the item is not an SGC 1.5, so rightfully rejected.

Two words: "Set break". This program stinks.

As CardPadre said - since the card is not sealed in the SGC holder anymore, it is technically not professionally graded as it is now.

It needs to be listed as a raw card with proper grade selected.

And the main photo being of the card in raw condition - not in the SGC holder.

That isn't why they rejected it.

Another eBay head scratcher to me. Not unexpected though. I have seen worse.

Did the OP list this as a graded card? My gut says yes and that removes all mystery about the rejection.

It pretty surely is. If you’re describing your card as an SCC 1.5 and it shows up to authentication with the slab in pieces… there’s your problem.

If he classified it as graded, then probably. But he did say -

"I sold this card June 27, but the case broke in transit to Ebay Authentication. Could not complete sale due to damaged case. Card and holder will be shipped to you,"

Ebay doesn't read they just plow ahead. I have seen worse on my own stuff.

It is why they rejected it.

Here is the listing:

It has in the specifics that it is professionally graded an SGC 1.5. That sends it to graded card authentication where they verify the slab is authentic and not tampered with. It was not sold as a raw card. Which is why they said there was a conflict between item description and the listing description. One says it's raw, the other says it's graded.

Do not even include the SGC holder ,
Although the seller is honest the authentication program cannot determine this card goes with the holder.

Can you quote some smaller pics? Dang...

Anyway, I also said, which you didn't quote -

"If he classified it as graded, then probably."

So, yes, I understood if classified as graded, and it's not, then that probably wouldn't fly. The only reason for the "probably" and not the "absolutely" is I was hopeful someone would read it and, since it is transparent and made sense, they would let it fly. But I guess it's black and white to them. I get it.

Yeah, your listing is absolutely terrible. To come here and act like you're mystified why your graded card listing for a raw card was rejected is straight up nutso. Someone would have been completely fine with you listing it as a raw card that was formerly graded...no reason at all to list it like you did.

When I shrunk it, it was unreadable. So I made it long so it didn't make the screen scroll side to side, but got the whole listing in.

But you hadn't made that second post when I quoted you (it took a few minutes from the time I selected to reply to get the photo of the listing edited and uploaded). So, no, I didn't leave anything out of your quote. I quoted your post and left it unedited.

That said, it wasn't so much a post directed at you, but to make it clear why ebay rejected the listing. I just used your quote as an example of what information I was trying to clarify. I appologize if it appeared I was attacking anything you said. I just wanted to answer the OP as to why it got rejected.

It's not really about "letting it fly." There are two types of authentication ebay does. They go to different places (or they used to) and they are authenticated for different things. Graded cards are treated differently from raw cards. It is based on the listing description. They don't read through the item description to determine whether the card is graded or raw. They use the selection the seller chose in the listing. In this case, seller chose to list it as a graded card (even the title of the listing says it's an SGC 1.5). So it went to graded card authentication, where the listing didn't match the description. It's as simple as that.

I never sell on ebay. I don't know the ins and outs of their authentication program. I posted here because I value the judgments on this site to help me learn. Lesson learned.

In my head, the card is an SGC 1.5 due to its prior appraisal, and still registered cert number. But I can see how that is confusing for some people who don't read descriptions.

Since the card is no longer slabbed, there's no guarantee it will receive the same grade if resubmitted.

Make the main photo the raw card. Have a later photo showing the card next to the broken slab. Do not include the photo of the card when it was in the slab. In the description, write: Formerly an SGC 1.5. They won't give you any trouble.

ETA: And, as others have said, list it as raw, not SGC 1.5. That's like listing a bunch of car parts as the car they used to be in.

Default resubmit to SGC

Just curious which condition should you post--POOR, Good?? I would resubmit the item to SGC with the slab. roll the dice--wont need to guess with the authenticators or the buyer concerning condition--if the item sells raw for more than 250.00 --its in the authenticators court to approve the sale--good luck!
