Just got notice that the T202 that I sold failed the authenticity guarantee due to some scratches and scuffing on the SGC slab that were not disclosed in my listing. Thought the photos were enough but I guess not. Now I have to wait until I get the item back and refund the buyer. Until then my funds from any new sales will be held.
Figured I'd share so someone doesn't make the same mistake. Jim Last edited by ldrunner27; Today at 04:16 PM. Reason: Typo |

Yes, I had it happen on a T201, even though I had submitted the raw card for grading and even slipped it into a soft sleeve after SGC returned it to me in its graded holder. So even though there weren't any noticeable scratches, it was still flagged. Maybe AI is getting involved, but at any rate I got some great advice here: Just be sure to include the disclaimer on your listing that there may be minor scratches on the holder. That way, you shouldn't encounter this situation.

I just had an E98 I bought fail for the same reason. They didn't even tell me the reason, I had to ask the seller, and they didn't even give me a chance to say I wanted it anyway. So dumb.

I think it is absolutely absurd when two entities (ebay and PSA ebay authentication) who have absolutely nothing to do with the sale other than facilitate the process can have so much power.
I have always thought that a sell was conducted between the seller and buyer - I guess I'm wrong on that. In addition, I just sold an item on ebay for $950. My payout was today - $803.25. Not bad for a company that never touches the item, has no inventory, etc. etc. Maybe I'll just start listing my item on Net54. |

A simple "Authentication has discovered:" with a simple "Do you still wish to purchase?" step in this program could solve so many issues.

The main reason why cards can get rejected due to scratches on the holder is because buyers were using it as a method to return a card. They would say the scratches on the holder fell under the umbrella of "not as described" and initiate a return. In reality, the most likely reason they were returning the card was either due to buyer's remorse or the fact that the card's value dropped significantly during the few weeks they had the card. This is why eBay now checks for scratches during the authenticity guarantee process, so an unscrupulous buyer can't use it as a reason to return the card |

The holder covered in scratches should be disclosed. Most of the time PlastX gets them out but the deeper ones won’t. Ebay pics often don’t show them clearly.
