Default What would you do?

I used to be an IP autograph collector 1966-8 and 2002-2012. In general I am pretty shy. I did in 1968 look in smallings book and realize Joe McCarthy lived near my college dorm and my friend and I just knocked on his door and he let us in. When I was trying to get the Jewish major Leaguer set signed and I sent 3 friends in different parts of the country to get 3 guys who ignored my mail request but thse guys were relatively unknown
Anyway fast forward. I just found out that Sadaharu Oh who I have always wanted on a playing day card leases a condo around the corner from me in Hawaii. I do not know how often he is here. It is a 40 story building with 24 hour security so I doubt I can just go up to his apt plus my shyness is kicking in. I thought about waiting outside the building but he may not be here and he would probably drive out and whether I could tell it was him if he has tinted car windows or is sitting in the back is questionable and how many days would it take. I'm tempted to do something but don't know what. At the memoent am thinking of just writing him a letter (if he answers I may ask him if I can share his address).
This is all true and I am not expecting some revelation from you all (but maybe some ideas) but I also thought you might enjoy reading about my dilemma

I'd write the letter, but leave out the part about sharing his address. Also, he is 84 now so he may not be travelling much these days. Good luck on whatever path you choose.

Send him a modest gift Registered Mail with a Return Receipt that requires the signature of the addressee, not that just anyone can sign for it. When you get the signed Return Receipt back you will have his autograph.
