Sad. He set the bar higher for boxing when he returned to win the title at an "advanced" age.

He was certainly part of some dramatic moments in boxing. Of course the stunning loss to Ali, but also the complete destruction of Frazier, and the round much later where he improbably rocked and almost put away Holyfield.

Great boxer and a good showman with boxing especially as he matured and developed into a veteran fighter

The pinnacle of Foreman's comeback, against Michael Moorer in 1994.

Moorer was no slouch, though maybe a bit of a head case, and had just come off a win against a prime Evander Holyfield.

Moorer was beating up Foreman pretty good in the bout, before Big George caught up to him in the 10th.

Moorer's trainer Teddy Atlas had been begging him not to stand in front of Foreman the whole fight, as it was well known that this version of George carried his power into the later rounds of fights, and Atlas could see that George was trying to coax Moorer into that right cross, which eventually took him out.

Moorer thought he could take George out himself, and paid the price. He had some sporadic minor successes after, but his career never really recovered from it.

RIP Big George, the last of the four. I imagine there is a heckuva tournament under way somewhere.

His rookie:

I sold this a while ago but it is too interesting not to post:

Pretty safe to say there'll never be another -- in so many ways. The most horrible thrashing of an undisputed heavyweight champ ever (Frazier I), on the losing end of arguably the biggest fight of all time, 10 years out of the ring --> heavyweight champ at 45, the face of a product that kept millions of college students and young adults fed (and still does, I assume).

I met him once, shook his hand -- my hand disappeared into his gigantic mit.

Which boxer said "George Foreman comes across as your friendly neighbourhood pops - until he starts hitting you that is."

It always amused me that he named all his sons and grandsons George. But, then, I amuse easily.
