I did a search of Net54, and while I found long threads for Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds memorabilia, I couldn't find one for Tigers' stuff. As a Michigan native, I've long cheered on the Tigers, and collected a mountain of memorabilia over the years. Here are a few of my favorites, including a Tommy Bridges pinball game, a signed Butterfinger of Charlie Gehringer, and game used caps from the late 40s (white "D" made by Spalding) and early 1950s (Orange "D" made by McAuliffe).

Here is a snap I have of Bob Harris, really like the water fountain for the players. Not something that is even imaginable these days. From 38 or 39. Hope you get lots of replies Chris!

Here's one of my favorite Bridges items. It was stated to have came from Schoolboy Rowe's estate and I've never seen another with Bridges or any other player for that matter. Also, I love your pinball game. I have three. One has untouched graphics but the wood parts missing, one has the spinner but is really faded, and the third has the ball release but the front is torn in places. At some point I want to see if I can transplant the wood parts from the last two to the first. One day....
Great stuff all! ![]()

1922 Hillerich & Bradsby Harry Heilmann Game Used Bat (PSA GU9)
The model of this bat is identified as "His Blue Model 8/23/17" in his ordering records. It was ordered by Heilmann in 1922, 1923, and 1925. However, the labeling period for this bat is generally known to run from 1919 to 1922. But since Harry signed his signature contract with Hillerich & Bradsby in October of 1920, the bat is narrowed down to the 1921 or 1922 season. Because of his ordering records it is further narrowed down specifically to the 1922 season when he batted .356 with a career high 21 HRs and 92 RBI. Selfishly, I sort of wish the bat could be tied to either 1921 or 1923 as he won batting titles both of those years with averages of .394 and .403 respectively. I had John do a letter and grade on it when I was in Chicago at the National in 2023. It received a GU 9 grade in part due to the presence of the original period (and style) correct criss-cross handle tape application. This is one of my favorites in my collection. Here is a the Tigers team m113 released in Dec 1915 and a page from the April 14, 1918 Detroit Sunday News featuring Jennings, Veach, Bush, Cobb, Vitt, Heilmann and Young. Sorry for the terrible job I did of stitching scans together on the newspaper page.

GREAT thread!
Here are some of my faves: - Denny McLain game used ball from Denny McLain's 31st and final win in 1968 - Game used and signed Virgil Trucks bat. "Fire" Trucks threw 2 no-hitters in 1952 for the DET Tigers. One of only 6 MLB pitchers to ever accomplish this feat - Framed Virgil Trucks piece that contains action photos, a ticket from his MLB debut game and 1st career win - Future HOF Justin Verlander early game used and inscribed bat from his Detroit Tigers era. Manufacturing date is one week before his 1st of 3 career no-hitters - Aerial photo and picture of my wife and me at the final game at Old Tiger Stadium on 9/27/1999 Last edited by Scott Garner; 12-21-2024 at 05:32 PM. |

Wow! It's nice to see so many Tiger fans here on Net54. I especially like the Stroh's sign, and any of the flannel jerseys Mark displayed would qualify as a Holy Grail for me. Here's a few more of my favorites, including a 1911 Turkey Red premium of Hughie Jennings doing his famous "Ee-Yah!" dance, a signed scorecard from WWII, a bobblehead from the 1960s, and a snapshot of pitcher Mark Fydrich taken during his brief heyday. Who else has fond memories from the summer of 1976, when "The Bird" came out of nowhere to win over baseball fans everywhere with his talent and his antics? His moment didn't last long, but his memories haven't faded for me. He was truly one of baseball's most unforgettable characters.

Nice pennants. Pennant wise this novice believes the Tigers have the best colors and design.

Here's an early oversized pennant, a 1912 Ty Cobb La Azora still attached panel of 2 cards and one of 2 large 4'x8' Tiger Stadium section signs that date to the mid 1930's. We purchased both of these large signs from the auction at the stadium before the city started the demolition. We didn't know when bidding because the auction company had awful photos and descriptions, but each large sign had a thin, aluminum overlay with vinyl letters/numbers pop-riveted on top of the original beauties. That was quite the surprise!

Not much of a Tigers collector but did pick up this 1939 Tigers signed ball at an estate sale in Dallas maybe 12 years ago for $30
![]() The tag just said "signed baseball (?)" Signatures aren't bold at all. Hank Greenberg's is very faint across the sweet spot. I recognized Chas. Gehringer and Rudy York and knew it was a 1930s Tigers ball so I bought it. I wasn't able to identify the year until I got it home and looked up the names. HOF Earl Averill is also on this one. |
