Default E103 Set

I was lucky enough to complete the E103 Caramel set early last year. I’m curious if anyone else has taken that journey or is in the process of doing so.

I’d love to hear your stories!

Congratulations on completing this fun set! I love seeing all the portraits together with their red backgrounds. Once upon a time, I put together all the HOFers in the set and I felt it was a fun set to collect. I'd love to see an image of your set all together. Congrats again!

David,

Congratulations on completing your Williams Caramel Co. set! Goes without saying there are some really great portraits in the set, some which are a bit haunting with that dark reddish background!

Congrats, that is an impressive set build project to have completed. They must look pretty great together. I don't yet have any 103s, I've been too busy working on the E102 set that I will never complete

Default Threads need cards...

These cards are too fragile. By far the nicest I have owned.

Default Williams Caramel

I put a lower grade set together years ago. Love the Horner images.

This is so great. Congratulations!

E103 is probably my favorite caramel set. I love the subtle hint of black in the red backgrounds, I think the images and typography are beautiful, and holy cow are they flimsy and tough to find in nice condition. Finishing the set is tough, but because they’re so hard to find in good shape, the upgrade process could be endless, if you’re inclined to do that.

Congrats!

-Al

Like others have said, this one's probably my very favorite set or at least in my "top 2". I enjoyed collecting them so much, I've completed it twice...lol! The toughest part though was rounding up some of the commons. I think in both instances, I had acquired a large group of them right from the beginning to get me started.

Sadly, I've parted with the bulk of my e103 collection, but did manage to keep around several "representatives" to count towards my oddity / printing goof type card set. Printing goofs are very difficult to spot with this set, but I've accumulated a few....most of these are of the handcut variety with oversized borders -

There is a general cadaverous feel about the player images in this set, like those creepy photos law enforcement releases of unidentified John Does where they've photoshopped open eyes onto posthumous photos. The original, unaltered Horner images are wonderful, but they really did a number on them IMO.

Congrats on a long time project!

I believe I got to 27 of the 30, about 15 years ago or so. Never did get it done...

My E103 Crawford example likes to think the mortician attending to his corpse did a fine job making his cheeks rosy enough for any passerby at his funeral service wonder if he were going to raise up from the coffin.

Looks great! Although I have to ask (if I don't someone else will)...does that one PSA slab bother you at all?

Yes, but I really don’t want to pay what it’d cost to get it into a SGC slab!

Congrats on a great accomplishment in completing the set!

Happy to at least have a type example as part of my collection.

Default E103

Such a tough group of 30 to complete! Congrats. Some of these cards have such a low population. One person has a set and a bunch of doubles which makes the journey even more challenging. Happy for you. Great cards! Tough to find in any grade.

Below is a link to a fun thread created by the OP over six years ago about his journey collecting cards for his E103 set.
