Default OT Public service announcement regarding UPS

Apparently, as of 3 days ago UPS (United Parcell Service) will NO LONGER deliver to US Post offices including post office boxes. They have also closed all of their customer pickup counters. Your only options are to have a package delivered to your residential address or to a UPS Store.

Now my rant for those who care to read:

I was sent a package via UPS that showed an estimated delivery date of Wednesday January 8th. On Wednesday tracking showed delayed and rescheduled for Thursday the 9th. Post offices were closed yesterday. UPS was open - I received no contact from them. Tracking shows delivery rescheduled for today January 10th.
I get a call about an hour ago from a local UPS representative (James) informing me that as of 3 days ago UPS will no longer deliver to Post offices (I pay extra to have my post office box set up as a "residential address" and have received packages from all major carriers without issue for years). I am so frustrated and want my package I tell him I am willing to drive to wherever I need to in order to pick it up. He informs me that UPS closed all of their customer service counters and pickup is not an option. I ask if it can be rerouted to anyplace else I can pick it up today. He tells me the package could only be rerouted to my actual residential address (which I am unwilling to provide) and couldn't be delivered till tomorrow. I speak to a supervisor (Maxine) who tells me the package CAN be rerouted to a UPS store - to call the 800 number. Wait for almost 30 minutes on hold to speak to Kat who's accent is so thick I can barely understand a word she is saying. She tells me any rerouting option couldn't happen till tomorrow. I end the call and try the corporate office to see if I can get someone that actually understands the meaning of customer service and can help me. I end up in a telephone menu loop, unable to get anyone on the phone!
I'm DONE with UPS! I had the original shipper change the delivery to a local UPS Store where it now shows estimated delivery tomorrow. Rant over. Thanks for listening.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

Good to know. Since UPS is an expensive option, as well as Fedex, compared to USPS, I usually go USPS because I am a cheap basta#$.

That said, if you won't give them your address it does make it more difficult.

UPS and Fedex have given me nothing but issues over the years.
USPS for the win.

First it was Joe T. with FedEx.

Then it was Phil G. with USPS.

Now it's Howard C. with UPS.

Is no one safe?

Were the earlier issues isolated to specific shipments gone awry?

With UPS, it seems like their policy change has the possibility to be a bigger issue that impacts many of us.

Not that shipper shenanigans and fails don’t freak us all out. But hopefully they continue to be isolated.

go to my PO box and have without issue since I set up my box as a "residential address" per USPS rules over 5 years ago.

Update on the matter: I still don't have the package!! I received mixed messages from different UPS employees about a rerouting option. I offered to drive over an hour to go pick it up from their sorting facility (not an option for them). I was told if it were rerouted it should arrive today (Saturday).I asked to have it rerouted to a UPS store - I was told the original mailer had to initiate that change. I called them. They did so yesterday at noon. Since then when I check tracking it shows "The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible.

We've received a request from the sender to update the delivery address."

I reached someone at UPS today - they said I could ask the shipper to put a trace on the package or just wait till Monday!!! Shipper tried to put a trace on it, but could find no option to do so online - need to wait till Monday.

To be continued....

That UPS calls what they are providing here "customer service" is utterly ridiculous.
