Default Any Love for Memory Lane?

They have an awesome active auction underway, but seem to get blackballed from any member positive recognition on this site.

I'm surprised that there's no chat about their great selection of high grade Ruth Goudey and Cracker Jack cards (not mine). There's more focus here on auction site platforms and shipping times.

They got kicked pretty hard about the hotel theft and choice to continue their sale, but clearly consignors have retained confidence in using them with the current offering.

Maybe I'm not ITK. Is it taboo on this site to give Memory Lane props?

Jeff

The auction did just open and the selection is as always amazing

I thought they get their fair share of conversation as any other auction house.

Perhaps it is the timing of it just opening that nothing started yet or perhaps the timing of the season.

Does not close for a while so I am sure it will pick up steam.

For better or worse, deserved or not, this is an REA site. Just how it is and has been.

If they would add a few more T206 Johnny Evers (With Bat) cards to their auction I might be more interested.

That is my back run- you will notice every single one is a different back. It’s complete except for the Drum. Over the past year I
also broke up, all through memory lane, my complete or near complete Tinker bat off, Chance yellow portrait, and Speaker back runs

It was definitely a minority view here to be against the hosting of the fraudulent auction selling items they did not have. There were only a handful of people who thought it wrong to lie to their bidders, even though not a single person in the thread thought it would be acceptable for me to do the exact same thing for the exact same reason in the BST. Observing that they are run by a convicted fraudster seemed to be the unpopular taboo. Praising them is not a taboo at all, many of the members will defend, justify or ignore anything at least up to and including fraud related to Memory Lane.

Noticed and impressed. I don't pick up much from MLane, but I always check the Cubs content.

That search result immediately jumped out and wow'd me.

I have enjoyed my interactions with Memory Lane auctions. In fact, yesterday I received a very nice Christmas gift from the company. The gift was totally unexpected. I plan to reach out and thank management for such a nice gesture.

I think Joe T. brought a lot of creditability to ML and is a big time favorite of many board members here. A lot of the positivity and accolades that came their way over the past decade may have had more to do with him than the rest of the company. Now that he has moved on, not so many are singing their praises these days and some things that were “overlooked” before are coming to the forefront.

Maybe's its just me, but when I think of ML, pre-war isn't the first thing that comes to my mind. While there is always some pre-war, and usually some nice stuff, I find their niche is to be high grade post-war set breaks. Seems like every auction they have 2-3 or more 50's, 60's or 70's topps sets in PSA 7-10 broken into individual lots. I don't think that fits the demographics of this board.

A few of us dig it. But we’re definitely in the minority around these parts.

He did, 100%. Joe is the primary reason I consigned so much stuff to memory lane. That said, I have done a lot of business with memory lane that did not involve Joe, both buying and selling privately. I really like and trust JP and his team. As a seller at auction, I have generally done better with ML than other AHs, as a private seller the experiences have been top notch, and as a buyer - either privately or at auction - I have had nothing but great experiences.

Joe is a serious asset and his joining Goldin is a massive win for Goldin.

I forgot how is ML con artist ? Did they get in trouble before or something? So many scandals over the years it’s hard to remember if any.

My thoughts exactly. I will have a post later on this topic. Stay tuned

I deal with Dan Wulkan at Memory Lane. He returns messages and does what he says he is going to do. I believe their realized prices are as strong or stronger than any auction house. They don't line up 6 of the exact same cards in their auctions and are excellent at promoting what they are selling. It is true they do best with graded cards over more esoteric memorabilia. I am going to agree with Ryan here and give a shout out to Memory Lane in terms of the consignment experience. The buying experience is similar to most other auction houses. You pay and they send your stuff packaged carefully
