Default Goldin shipment to the PSA Vault

Does anyone have any experience with this? I had a card that was "shipped" to the PSA vault and Goldin won't provide any tracking as they say they do their vault shipments with armed security. The PSA vault doesn't have the card either so I have no idea where the card actually is.

I've contacted customer service via phone (last week) and email (both Thursday and again today) but I seem to be in a black hole of information. I get that part of this likely requires me to be patient and it will end up where it is supposed to (PSA Vault) but spending $330 in shipping and insurance for a card and not knowing the actual status of it is a little concerning. Yes, I've dealt with Goldin many times but my first experience using them w/the PSA vault service. It's a pretty significant card to my PC as well.

Any insights any of you have who have actually had stuff they've won at Goldin sent the PSA vault would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, I've had numerous issues with items shipped from Goldin to PSA. Two recent purchases were stuck in "To Vault" status more than three weeks after being sent to the Vault.

PSA's Vault team doesn't have a direct public contact number or email, and customer support representatives answering PSA's main contact line don't have any information about the Vault. My issues were only resolved after I posted my negative experience on Blowout Forum.

The Vault director, Jacob Bogardus, reached out by e-mail to address my concerns. For my most-recent issue, he explained that one of my items had been stuck in limbo because it was an old-label SGC card, and the PSA Vault team's computer system didn't recognize certification numbers with hyphens in them. The Vault team had to manually enter the card in the system without a hyphen to complete the vaulting process. If I hadn't posted on Blowout, I suspect the card would have continued to sit in limbo.

This is Jacob's email: jbogardus@collectors.com.

Thanks! Goldin says PSA now has it but it could take "up to 5 business days" for PSA to show it in my vault. Seems a little less than ideal so I may contact Jacob and ask if they have it.

Appreciate the info!!

Easy solution IMO, don't use a vault.

I have bought from Goldin but never had this issue. Was the vault listed on the listing?

Have never used the vault option. And never will.

If I didn’t live in Oregon (no sales tax), and I was buying a big piece with a fat sales tax of 5 figures, then I would definitely be tempted.

If I have enough money to buy an item with 5 figure sales tax, I'm probably not trying to dodge my sales tax.

Maybe that's why I don't have enough money to buy an item with 5 figure sales tax...

And evade the use tax?

Haven’t looked at this very closely, since it’s not relevant to me. But for most states, if you keep it in the vault for long enough, my recollection is that the use tax doesn’t apply.

I want to say that CA is like 90 days.

Trust me, if it were up to me, I’d tax all of those to death, and go after vault withdrawals for use tax. That way, I have a bidding advantage with zero sales tax in my state.

From a purely collector standpoint I have a hard time with the vault. If you send your long held collection there for safe keeping, I guess I could see that. But I'm not sure I'd want to send a card I just bought to the vault and never actually possess it, and we talk all the time about slabbing and how it creates space between the card and yourself. The vault only seems to add to that sentiment.

I was in your situation last month. It took Goldin 1 week after I paid for my item to hand deliver it to the vault. Then approximately 10 business days (2 weeks) before it was officially logged in the vault. Stay patient, it will pop up.

Nope, I see it as a work around for sales tax, and would just like to have my card for the whatever dollars I've already figured into the final bid.
