Smile Roberto Clemente Oddballs

My first post in this forum. I know somebody knows about this subject matter. Would love pics of any of your oddball/non basic Clemente cards. Ive recently fell in love with the PSA Registry, and good lord what a rabbit hole she is. The one card in particular that prompted this thread is the, 1972 FRIENDS OF ROBERTO CLEMENTE HAND CUT card. What does it even look like? What is its origins?

Howard is your man, as the ultimate oddball collector, and the ultimate Clemente collector, all rolled into one.

I'm sure he'll respond, but in the meantime, here's a link to Howard's set:

https://www.psacard.com/psasetregist...timeset/243775

If you scroll all the way down to the last item in the set, you'll see a picture of the piece you're looking to find. The back of the card might also give you some insights into the origins of this card.

For that matter, Howard tends to post pictures of everything else in his Clemente collection (at least everything that's part of the Set Registry), so his set is a great resource if you're trying to figure out what any given oddball Clemente piece looks like.

Also here: the "365 Days of Roberto Clemente" thread, started and faithfully completed by docpatlv
www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=249493

(see posts #911-920 for a sort of index, that is probably a little overdue for an update, but the pace on that thread has slowed down since its heyday, so most everything is cataloged there except the most recent handful of pages)

The "Friends-NY" ("Daily Juice" look-alike) is post #1101 on pg 23

Default Welcome Jason!

Always love to welcome another Clemente rarities/oddball collector.

To answer your question - The "NY Friends of Clemente" fan club card is identical on the front to the relatively common "Daily Juice" fan club card and more difficult "Harmony dairy" fan club card. The "NY Friends..." example I own is the only one I have ever seen. I have been so far unable to find any additional information about it though would surmise there was some type of Clemente fan club in NY that the cards were made for (likely in very small quantities given that the one I own is the only I have seen).

There is an incredible world of Clemente rarities and oddball issues and I have found it both challenging and incredibly fun to pursue. I invite you to PM me or email me directly at hcv123@att.net with any questions you have. I am happy to share my knowledge and experience.

Nicolo (Thank you) provided a link to my master set which you might enjoy and Michael provided a link to a FANTASTIC Net 54 Clemente thread which I highly encourage you to enjoy from beginning to end.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.
