Default LOTG Auctions Photo & Art Livestream

Hi all:

I wanted to let you all know about a livestream event that Love of the Game is hosting tomorrow afternoon, called "Documenting History: Where Sports, Photojournalism, and Art Converge."

When we were working on this current auction and reviewing the photos from the Durham Find of Historic Baseball Photography a few months ago, we got to talking about the lines between photojournalism and fine art, and thought it was a pretty interesting topic. We thought it would be interesting to bring together some people from both disciplines and talk a little about it, particularly as it relates to sports. We thought a panel discussion would be an interesting way to present it, so we're hosting it right from our offices in Kingston, NY.

Guests will be:

Paul Reiferson, vintage photography scholar
Andrew Aronstein, Operations Manager, LOTG
Graig Kreindler, fine artist
Pamela Schuyler, former photojournalist, Associated Press
Viktorsha Uliyanova, visual artist, photography professor, State University of NY

The livestream starts at 2pm. Anyone interested can view it on Facebook Live, the event page is https://www.facebook.com/share/19d1wt44Xw/

-Al

What a great event. So glad I drove up. The panel was truly excellent and it was great seeing all the photos from the current auction. Al, thanks for arranging. That was a lot of fun. And informative.

I was unfortunately traveling this afternoon and had to miss this. Will the video be posted online anywhere?

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it up to our offices in Kingston and enjoy the event and our gallery space.

And of course thanks to the panelists, a few of which are also Net54 members. It was a nice day, full of interesting perspectives. I was particularly interested in a point Pamela Schuyler made early on, about how two photographers could be sitting right next to each other, shooting the same thing, and one has the camera pointed just right and clicks the shutter at just the right moment and gets a Pulitzer-winning photo, and the person right next to him gets nothing. Very interesting.

Anyway, we'll be posting clips on our social media but you can also view the entire thing (save for one brief Netflix-style technical glitch) in three parts on our Facebook page, which is here: https://www.facebook.com/LoveOfTheGameAuctions/
