In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, let’s see some cards of players with Irish roots, green colored cards, or cards that make you joyously green with envy. Here’s a T206 of Lewiston, Maine native Bill Carrigan, Boston Red Sox player-manager and mentor to rookie Babe Ruth.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Irish immigrants on August 10, 1859. Despite his diminutive size (5' 3" 127 pounds), in 1882 Corcoran became the first pitcher to throw two no-hitters in a career. Two seasons later, he became the first pitcher to throw three no-hitters, setting a record that would stand until 1965.

Let’s go with Shag! Former captain of the Norte Dame football team, and also given credit as the first to use the option, moving college football from 2 yards and a cloud of dust to 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
Thanks, Kiss me I’m Irish O’Brien |

Other than Walter Johnson, the Washington Senators didn't have much in the way of outstanding players during the decade of the 1910's, but two of the team's stalwarts were center fielder Clyde "Deerfoot" Milan and great-field, no-hit George McBride, the son of an Irish immigrant.

Wee Willie Keeler was of Irish descent, and this bonnie lad's nickname has a leprechaun ring to it as well. He sure knew how to hit them where they ain't.

Since Kevin stole my thunder, how about all six poses for Jocko Fields in the Old Judge set. He was born in Cork, Ireland.
