Wondering what these are. They are the size of 50's picture pack photos. Anyone familiar with these?

Whatever they are, they are great looking. The Williams looks like what became his 1941 Play Ball.

They look like George Burke photos, however they could be modern made and not originals, hard to tell from the scans.

They definitely appear more modern to me. Stock looks newer and thinner than what Burke used in the late 1930's and there appears to be a graininess issue with the clarity. Anything on the backs? Perhaps early George Brace reprints? If player names are hand-printed at the tops on the back, I'll certainly recognize if they originated from Brace. George Burke images were used for the Play Ball sets and several other issues in the 1930's.

Were there picture packs that would include these three? Last edited by loubrown; 01-06-2024 at 12:00 PM. |

Lou,
My fault for not being clearer. I meant they appeared more modern than 1939, that's all. Wish I could help more. Last edited by BillyCoxDodgers3B; 01-06-2024 at 01:57 PM. |

The one thing we can all absolutely, positively, undoubtably agree on is that the card on the far right is a 1968 Topps Rod Carew!!
Oh, crud...but it could possibly be a 1968 Milton Bradley Rod Carew. Uh, oh, sorta painted myself into a corner there. (Pretend this post never happened.) ![]()

Have you put them under a black light? That could help narrow down the age.

Edit: My bad, I meant '39 Goudey.
The '34 Goudey in my collection have wide pen style facsimile signatures on the front. Last edited by dantradescards; 01-07-2024 at 07:54 AM. |
