I've been lurking for a while but figured this would be as good a time as any to introduce myself.
I'm Doug, and I have varied interests (mostly pre-war), but lately have been particularly partial to things like '30s die-cuts (Batter Up & '37 O-Pee-Chee), colorful issues (particularly Batter Up and W517), and cards that are interesting when defaced (topless Batter Ups, separated T202 panels, etc.) Thanks to all for the incredible depth and breadth of information; I've learned about many things, but am particularly grateful for the threads on Batter Ups, W517s, Joe Jackson's stealth appearance(s) in T202, and what one should expect at the National (2023 was my first trip).

Welcome aboard, Doug. I see that you are quite far along with the defaced sets you collect - congrats! This is an interesting and unusual collecting focus.

Welcome aboard!!
A couple of basic site rules: 1. Anytime you're asked to guess who a player is in an old black and white photo, the only acceptable answer is Joe Jackson. 2. When negotiating the sale of a card to a fellow member, never ever reject an offer by telling him you have more money into it than the amount he's offering. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I thought Honus Wagner or Cap Anson were also acceptable?
