Here's the card in question:
s-l1600.jpg That's bad. What's the most likely scenario, real card removed and replaced, or an accidental labeling error at PSA??

I can't see any evidence of removal and replacement in the "tamper-evident" holder, so, as unusual as it is, I suppose it is just a case of PSA overgrading it.

The pic on Psa’s website when you check this cert is this card.

The strange part is that all the other nearby cert numbers, presumably from the same submission, appear to be harshly graded. All 2s and 3s that look like 3s, 4s, and 5s.

I am pretty sure PSA meant to give this a 9 grade, but the grader no doubt has a rare form of head over heals/mirror image number dyslexia, so naturally it got slabbed as a 6.

I wonder if this is a case where PSA accidentally switched the grades. It’s happened to me before, although on a 2-card order, so it was much more obvious.

I've seen poor grading before, but this is really obvious. PSA should be implementing a drug aversion policy for their graders and quality control teams.
PSA probably doesn't care and they're laughing all the way to the bank because they fumble through everything yet everyone is breaking down their doors to give them more business. It's the perfect business model. 1. Offer a service 2. Have a client list that is willing to accept sub standard service 3. Continue selling the service and increase prices and lower the standards in an effort to increase profitability. 4. Continue to not care about your clientele because you can and repeat item 3 as much as possible, because you can.

Probably a swing-and-a-miss on the ol' keypad.

Just curious, did anybody else open the ebay link for this card? I did. It was a few days ago. Today, out of the blue I get a message from ebay asking if I'd like to make an offer on the card. I didn't check this a "watch this" or anything. Frigging cookies and ebay spyware monitoring what I'm looking at. I did offer $15 for the card, but the offer was rejected... seriously, how does that happen? The original card had to have been replaced because even I believe PSA couldn't screw it up that bad.

After looking at some other Aaron's, the broken D in OUTFIELD is a recurring defect. Hadn't noticed before, nice card.

I honestly believe PSA screws up worse than that on a daily basis and no I am not being a smart ass. With the number of cards they grade in a day it is probably several cards everyday. |

My guess is there's a nice Ex-Mt '65 Topps Aaron somewhere out there in a PSA 2 holder (or was; maybe the customer's cracked that one out by now).

PSA has caught on to this card. Ryan Hoge posted about it on Twitter. Said he'd like to get in contact with the owner to work something out and that it should only be a 2 or 3.
