From what I know this is from a 1940 True Sport magazine of Joe Dimaggio. The magazine would be best, but does this cutout have any value? Does PSA grade anything like this?

It has limited value..... as it was not meant to be cut out as a stand alone card or printed piece. Looks a lot like many comic book pages from the era as far as the paper and colors. Most magazines didnt use this kind of stock but some did.

I sorta figured it to be of little value. Teach your kids not to do this.

My apologies - misread the details there.
In that case, totally different situation!

The general rule on cutouts are fairly simple. If they are created to be cutout as a collectable initially, then they can be cataloged.
If it's not created as such, it technically has no value. However, anything and everything has a buyer somewhere...it just takes time to find them.

I don't collect such things, but I do happen to have a newspaper clipping of Joe's first game as well that was part of a scrapbook. He did make a big splash in his debut.
The article did not mention a twisted ankle, so unfortunately the ankle is probably not Joe's, and thus the cutout cannot reasonably claim to picture three DiMaggio ankles. Here is a cutout from a newspaper that probably has low level value, but was cool enough to frame. Brian |
