Default Perez Steele Registration Autograph Question

I believe I may have the largest collection of these HOF Player Registration Cards for THEIR Perez Steele Postcard collections.

Does anyone know anything about these?

Here's a link to my video on Youtube explaining what I have, and my theories on them.

Any input appreciated, thank you!

Interesting collectible. I collect the postcards and have never seen the registration cards. I don't believe there is much to know. The card is exactly what it states - registration. Register the set and get first dibs on the next series with the same serial number. It was a good marketing sense by Perez-Steele. Today, we give companies our email address. The Perez-Steele postcards was a limited (??) run of 10,000 sets. I would assume living members of the hall of fame or one of their heirs were offered a set (perhaps a freebie).

If I remember correctly, the Goal Line Art Cards for the PFHOF had a similar registration card enclosed with each series.

Who are the toughest autographed from the Fritsch Negro set? Have a few I won in an auction many years ago.

I'm assuming most, if not all, of these must have come from PS Galleries as they were meant to be sent in the mail to them. Possibly a collector approached them and bought the cards or maybe they were sent to an auction house and sold that way. Any clues as to where and when they entered the secondary market? Maybe Dick Perez has some recollection.

I interviewed Dick Perez on this very topic this week on my youtube channel.

Nice interview. A couple of takeaways:
  • I don't think Mr. Perez had much insight into the marketing and distribution of the postcards. Sounds like the Steele's handled that part.
  • With his comments about how Peggy handled the closing of the P-S Gallery after her husband's death, it would not surprise me at all if she sold some/all of the registration cards to someone as a way to liquidate the assets of the business.
  • I was surprised when Dick said that Peggy didn't even have a list of his paintings and to whom they were sold.
  • I would wager that your registration cards are original with legit player signatures, except for those filled out by a spouse/relative.

Have you reached out to Bill Daniels or Gallery of Full Steps about the registration cards? They are two of the biggest distributors of the cards on the secondary market.

Great work.

Great work.

I believe the same things for the same reasons; glad to hear someone else comes to the same conclusions (along with my theories from Part I, the video right before the interview with Mr. Perez).

I have not reached out to Bill Daniels, I am not familiar with them or the companies you mention- do you have a way I can get in touch with them? That would be great!
