I was organizing some stuff and thought others might like to see an older price guide by one of the Godfathers of pricing, (Bob Lemke RIP). The magazine, Baseball Cards Magazine, had a Chuck Connors theme for those of us that remember The Rifleman.
And a playing days card of his.

![]() .. .. The oddball-looking card is an early-fifties " Mother's Cookies" insert card , celebrating the minor league teams of fifties California. A pretty neat set all things considered. .. |

I remember seeing Chuck signing autographs at one of the early 80's shows I attended. Always got a kick out of this Rifleman Magazine cover.

"Rookie Gamble: Our Experts Pick Winners"! That 1985 article would be entertaining to read in light of the current resurgence!

For a guy that only had one plate appearance with the team I collect I probably have more Connors than I need, but I'm always looking for more.

I loved Baseball Cards magazine and those fantasy cards they would include, like the 1983 Topps Don Mattingly.
I was also a huge fan of Tuff Stuff, particularly in its original oversized format. |

Mr Connors once said of Branch Rickey, “ Mr Rickey had money and he had ball players but felt the two should not be commingled”

Justin, that's a beautiful Chuck Connors collection. What is the card just below the Mothers Cookie? Also, have you ever seen the Lucky Fan premium?

Ran into him back in the 60's at the famous Farmer's Market in Los Angeles and got him to sign this on the run.

I met Chuck Connors at a BB Card Show back in 1982. We had a very enjoyable conversation (mainly about his Movie career).
Especially the Western titled "The Big Country " (one of my favorites). Chuck was a really friendly guy to talk with. I've never forgotten our 45-minute conversation. Thanks Leon....for bringing back some great memories. ![]() TED Z T206 Reference . |

I still have all of my BB Cards issues from the mid-80s. They are well worn as my friends and I always used their mostly current price guides in our trades. Great memories of the 1980s card frenzy. Everybody wanted the 85 T, D & F Goodens.

I’m curious how the experts called those “rookie gambles”, they had a pretty decent crop to work with in 85.

Thanks Paul! That card is a 1949-50 Ansco (Cuban). I've seen the Lucky Fan but I don't have any. I'm a weirdo in that for my primary collection I try to only get images of players when they were with Brooklyn, the exception being minor leagues and foreign issues. Andy's pinback is pretty high on my wantlist. ![]() 1949-50AnscoChuckConnors.jpg

Yeah, you had Puckett and McGwire, but you also had Gubicza and Langston, among all the others. It would be an interesting read.

Thanks guys, I was lucky enough to accumulate the entire button set (or at least all known). The team issued photos are the same photographs used for the pinbacks. I have the Duke Snider photo and have always suspected a pin may exist.
