Default WTB: T213-2 from Heritage lot

If you won the lot of 56 mostly raw cards and are interested in selling/trading any duplicates that you might have, please let me know.

Thanks,
Steve

I stopped bidding at about 3100. It outsold the n172 lot by a good amount, which was surprising. I didn't need any unless the Murray was Chi Nat, or Sweeney was Richmond. Good luck on these, I'm guessing a dealer bought them.

Hi Rob,

Thanks. I don't think I need any of them either, but obviously not all of the raw cards were fully described. I do have some cards that could use some upgrades, but given the listed condition of this lot, they would only be eye appeal upgrades.

I was not the underbidder either...

Cheers,
Steve

Hi guys, what is this Sweeney Richmond card? I am struggling to find any info on it. Is it Richmond, VA?

Brian, it's a low pop, obscure card in the T213-2 set. The Ed Jeff Sweeney catching pose card with a caption that reads Richmond. The printers thought he was in Virginia. There is a thread on here where Todd and others did some newspaper research. I'll try to find it. The upshot is that it was some other Sweeney, not the major leaguer who played for New York. I'm 4 cards from a complete set, and the Sweeney Richmond is 1 of them. There is an image on here somewhere. I'll also look for it later this weekend. Rob

Here's a picture that Chris the Admin found and posted on here awhile back.

Rob, the printers actually had it correct. Baseball Reference doesn't show that he played for Richmond but he actually did towards the end of the 1915 season after the Yankees released him.

Great info, Pat. Thanks for finding that. It's also interesting that they call him "Ed", and not his hobby name, "Jeff".

This is great guys, thank you. I’m a lifelong Richmonder and will have to get this card at some point. Collecting Richmond is a tough slog, it seems so many of the cards (E222, H801-7, T209-2) are quite scarce. It’s hard to even find images of the Sweeney Richmond card.
