I recall in-around 2008 I was paying PSA $4 per card (post '56 + und $100 value) with Bulk Rate subs.
Just wonder what others were paying around then and prior? I have no idea what their fees would have been pre 2000 either. So in 14 years time PSA expects me to pay 25X the rate I paid when I first started with them. Maybe they should be emailing everyone about how their $100 "regular" fee is "transitory"? ![]() |

So true, been submitting since 2000. Used to cost me $13 per card total for grading fee, postage and insurance. Unless I come across a >$50K value card that is raw, I'll never submit at the $100 level. Even the SGC $30 level is just a bit high for my liking, when you add in two way postage and insurance. Need a 30 day, $20 service to get me back. I prefer SGC though.

Several years ago I got an entire NrMint 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set and another 50-60 low grade T210s and star cards from the 50s-60s graded at $4 each on a club member special from SGC.

Just curious as to the fees PSA and SGC charged in the '90s? Both for "reg" subs and "bulk rate"....

The big PSA sub-sell businesses warp it because they get such huge discounts and submit so many of the same cards that they end up blowing out the leftovers for cash flow. Shortly after the financial meltdown and great recession, I bought a lot of PSA graded 1970s cards from 4SharpCorners on their site for anywhere from $1.99-$5.00 each, with free shipping on orders of a certain value. I flipped a lot of those into the price surge last year.

PSA had an on-site deal where you could submit cards in person at their facility. I took my 1956 set and I think it was around $5 or $6 a card. The return postage was a bit painful, but the individual card price was a good deal.

Hmmm, first time I ever sent in cards to PSA, was their $75 Express rate, just before the sh*t hit the fan.
Just before that, I bought a 1910's (54) card boxing set, fully graded in 8+ condition that had been sitting on Ebay for what seemed like over a year, before I pulled the trigger on it, when it came down below $800 bucks for the fully graded set, and it seemed silly not to buy it. Kind of blows my mind, it would cost me $5400, just to grade the set today......which BTW, even in my wildest dreams, isn't worth that much, even with the run-up. ![]() |

PSA vintage bulk was like $5.50 a card less than 5 years ago.

I keep thinking PSA graded cards might automatically sell at a premium above what they have been selling for just because everyone knows the PSA grading fees are so high. If you are trying to complete a PSA graded card set you might have to pay up or take the chance of grading your own raw card to get the card you need in a PSA holder. I'm sure that has been happening at times, and accounts for the reason PSA cards often sell for more than equivalent SGC cards.
