Hello Net54Baseball Community,
I’m excited to join this amazing forum! Here’s a little bit about me and my collecting journey: I started collecting in 1987 when I was 11 years old, using the money from my paper route with the Buffalo News to feed my collecting habit. Like many kids of that era, I ripped a lot of junk wax from 1987 to 1993, amassing over 100,000 cards. Even back then, I was in awe of prewar and 1950s cards, but I never had the discipline to save up for them. However, I did manage to hold onto a few 1960s cards from my childhood, which remain sentimental treasures in my collection. Now that I’m older, my primary focus is on the iconic T206 set. The beauty of the lithographs, the set’s rich history, and the mystery of its many nuances captivate me. The thrill of hunting down rarer backs and PSA/SGC-graded cards (4+ with decent centering) keeps me deeply engaged. I’m also drawn to individual player iconic cards from my childhood, like the 1933 Goudey Ruth and Gehrig, or legends like Whitey Ford, Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, and Willie Mays. One of my favorite cards is my 1962 Topps Roger Maris, which my uncle gave me as a kid. Watching vintage recordings of Maris made him a hero of mine, and my uncle’s generosity made this card priceless to me. Through this forum, I’m looking to: • Help others complete their sets or find cards they need. • Learn more about the T206 set and its intricacies. • Explore trading or buying cards to expand my collection. Additionally, I’m launching a YouTube and Instagram channel called All About T206 to educate and expand knowledge about this incredible set. My hope is to inspire more collectors to appreciate its beauty and history while growing the community of enthusiasts. Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible group—I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you and sharing in our mutual passion for the hobby! -Darren AllAboutT206 |

Welcome aboard...and I agree, collecting different rare T206 backs (if by rare you mean you rarely get to see them in the exact condition shown below) can be fun too!

You would think Tom would be preparing for his upcoming playoff broadcast instead of mucking around here looking for some sweet Lou Gertenrich cards. And I don't think it is possible to send PM's to banned idiot trolls. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 01-06-2025 at 10:07 AM. Reason: added comment about future banned member |

Welcome, Darren! I don't know whether/when I will join you in the T206 world, though. It seems so daunting, even for someone who would be narrowly looking for White Sox players. I've peeked down the rabbit hole a few times but always come away more confused than I started about what's out there, what would be a good purchase, etc. 50s/60s, even 30s seems a lot easier to navigate to me.
All the best! Brad
