As per the NSCC's Facebook Page:
We are saddened to announce the passing of long time National Exhibitor and member of the NSCC Board of Directors, John Hom. John, along with his wife Sue, was a fixture at the National and most major east coast shows. John will be missed

John was always one of my favorites to converse with at the national, even if only for a short time as he seemed always busy, as was I...but just a few minutes was worth it as he was always warm and friendly...RIP John !

I have known John and his wife, Sue, since the Willow Grove Philly Show days. A wonderful couple, always delightful to talk with, and to do card deals with.
It brought me to tears last night, reading of John's passing away. It was just a couple of months ago when I was talking with John and Sue at the Valley Forge Show. GOD Bless John's soul.....and, may GOD comfort Sue, and their son Alex....and all their many friends. Ted Z . |

John was a tremendous guy-someone who I considered a very good friend. He was always gracious- and the last handful of years he joined our NSCC board- and made great contributions. He almost always would bring his awesome wife Sue to the shows, and many times their son Alexander would be there too. They have to be one of the nicest families I have ever known.
I just returned from doing the Philly show- and it really hit home - that he just wasn't there. I probably spent 30 minutes to an hour with John at that show(and many others),each and every show - for the last 20 or so years. We would buy and sell cards- but we also would visit. The show just wasn't the same, this time around. I really missed the visit. We all love the stuff- but in the end it is the people in this hobby who make it what it is. John was a really good one- and I will miss him. RIP buddy |

John was a very kind soul, his wife Sue and Alexander are some of the nicest people I've known in the hobby. We chose to close off John's booth as a memorial at The Philly Show this past weekend. Many people stopped by to sign a card for his family. So many so that we decided to also use his dealer booth card and sign and leave messages for him and his family. John had a true passion and love of the hobby, he had a wealth of knowledge and always treated people with the utmost respect. John had a great sense of humor and I always loved his jokes and his wit ! God Bless John and the entire Hom family. |
