Can you identify this card?

It is 1 3/4 x 2 3/4....same size as W503 but obviously not.

Blank back. 23 Frank Hall L.F. No Frank Halls played MLB

It doesn't look like Athletics "A"

Any ideas?

A different Frank Hall played for Waterloo Hawks in the Mississippi Valley League in 1931 and 1932.

Nice spotting David and great link. I don't think I would have ever identified the card. Definitely an obscure issue of very obscure players.

I have four or five Van Peanuts buried in the chaos of my collection. I'd scan 'em if I knew where they were. Max Weder and his wife Jennifer Ettinger are energetic and devoted supporters of minor league baseball in Vancouver; Max has a substantial number of the cards from the set. Even knew one of the players. Attached is a jpeg he has posted on N54 a few times in the distant past to give you an idea. Just to be clear these are not minor leaguers but rather players in a senior amateur league. Word is they played serious ball.

This must be close to the ultimate in obscure sets. Imagine....a 1930's amateur league in Vancouver. Most likely one of the players was a photographer or printer or both. Thanks for all of the replies....

Just imagine trying to put this set together. Next time any of you are at a card show, ask the dealers if they have some. At least a few of their responses should be remarkable.

I deem that a well crafted phrase. That alone is a nugget that justifies reading this thread.

I think that many of us, if we were to acquire one of these cards, we'd keep it as a type card. We wouldn't drop other interests to seek out the rest of the Vancouver Peanuts cards to make a set. Nor would we just sell the one card we had. My point, for the first time have I considered a type collector a bane for set collectors.

I would start with Mark Macrae, he is the most likely dealer to have them.
