The 1916 Zeenut Claxton is accepted as the first major series to release a card depicting a black player.
What about the Treadway cards from the OJ (N172) series? Who is the second black player to be released in a major series of cards? What year/series? Let's limit this to US releases because I'm sure there are plenty of Cuban (and other) series cards that could fit the bill. However, if there are Cuban (and other) card experts that would like to weigh in, it'd be nice to read what they post.

I think there were a couple of jockeys in the Kimballs set in 1887(?), and some 19th Century boxer cards, I think, but I'm not sure if that counts....

Shameless plug - I have consigned a 1916 Claxton (very rare and special for obvious reasons) to memory lane and it will be in their upcoming auction.

There are many Cuban and Caribbean league cards featuring black players. If you're talking strictly major / minor leagues I believe this is the next card after Claxton:

I would argue that the 1941 Browns Team issue Roberto Bobby Estrella would be the next card. While he “passed” as white it is now generally agreed that the Cuban born Estrella was of mixed race
