Would u pay a premium on vintage PSA graded card that has MBA on the PSA holder?

I understand it might seem to be "important" to have that MBA on a PSA 10 card but on a T206 Ty Cobb PSA 4?? What's the point??

I understand that he is an industry veteran and likely is extremely knowledgeable, but I personally do not see the value in the additional layer of certification/authentication. That said, I understand why newer collectors (or perhaps more specifically, investors) would want the additional certification.

It seems to be something of service to help those who practice “buy the card, not the TPG grade,” which is my approach, but I feel like anyone who’s been collecting for a long time can see the nuances within cards of the same grade.

For example, on his own website, he even calls out that different cards of the same grade will sell for disparate amounts of money, and notes that there is a range of conditions with a grade.

I think that’s the answer—the market is already determining the differences and establishing a premium on the nicer cards.

This concept is confusing. Does MBA work in partnership with PSA? Or did another authenticator put their own sticker on a PSA slab?

It’s basically his version of the PWCC A-E-S eye appeal sticker.

But the majority of his stickers are on modern stuff…I mean I have some 2018 PSA 2’s that have obviously above average eye appeal….should they get a sticker?

It’s just dumb to me. Eye appeal is subjective. There’s plenty of PWCC stuff that I don’t get why it has their sticker either.

I'm not on board with that. How does it even work? You can't really examine a card through the slab. Besides that, if I wanted an MBA grade why would I have my card in a PSA slab?
