Default FS: My Glass Plate Negative Grail - Chritsy Mathewson Image Signing A Baseball!!

Just an astounding image.

Christy Mathewson signed baseball are impossibly rare, and it is likely that some or perhaps many of those that exist are forgeries.

That an image exists of Matty signing a baseball is truly a grail item for anyone who wants rare images or who collects unique autographs.

The detail on the negative is...well...you can judge for yourself. It is simply astounding. Because of the rarity of the image I have only shown half of it here. It will give you a good indication of the quality of the image and what it contains.

Matty is shown in his uniform wearing his team sweater. I believe this is a Cincinnati Reds sweater which would date the image to the 1916-1918 time period. This is a Bain image and contains his usual notations at the top of the negative.

Truly a one of a kind image. The rest of what I had i sold at very good prices. This one is going to be much tougher to pry away from me. But I am making it available in case someone wishes to do so. Asking $4,000 delivered.

You may want to repost the image as it appears cut off.

Wow, incredible quality on this one. Would you be open to sharing the full image after the sale, or do you have a link to a copy of the image? Extremely interested in seeing this.

If someone is truly interested and we are in negotiations I would certainly release the full image to that person.

If it remains in my hands I prefer not to release the image publicly. If someone buys it and that person has no problem releasing the full image then that person can certainly do so. I released what I did to show the quality of the image. If someone wishes to enter into talks about acquiring, and that person is serious, and a verified good member of this site with a credible buy history from other members, I would release the image to that person for their purview.

I can watermark it for you if you'd like to go that route.

Tom, I once had that image as a photograph. It was part of my 1912 World Series collection. Beautiful.
