This is a large print block that I have. I feel like I know this image but I can't place it. It is reminiscent of the M101 Shoeless Joe cards, but not a match. The face and body look more like Wagner. It also could be a generic pose, but it doesn't feel like that to me.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for making it clearer Bob! Definitely doesn't look like it might be Wagner anymore.

I am not familiar with that set, but I should clarify that I am not suggesting that this was used for a card - and I think it probably wasn't given the background and the size. I was hoping that someone might recognize the face/pose as it would be cool to link it to a real player and a photo.

I've had pretty good success in printing off of old printing plates. Give it a try so long as you don't mind the effort.

The body dimensions don't look like Hack.
As you mentioned, it could be a generic pose, but even then, those are usually based on someone. Certainly, an interesting piece.

Everything about that piece screams actual photo to me. You know, all the nuances of the details in the pose and uniform, and his face looks 'real,' not at all ambiguous like an artistic rendering.
Edited to add: and I would bank on the fact he is a right handed batter.

I think the biggest clue is the style of (full?) socks pictured. Those have got to narrow the date down. Any hosiery experts about?
Is there any indication of a logo or insignia on the hat? The area seems to be smudged out, but is there anything to be gleaned from having it in hand?

I would have to see the piece in person but from the placement of the dots On figure and around Edges of the block, they look like they are holes for pins for a 2 piece plastic Or metal mold of some kind - just a thought

Sorry that I missed this question!
Those are the heads of the nails used to hold the metal plate to the wood block (just like around the edges).

I saw this sold already (on the BST page), but ultimately, the question of "who" is still unanswered. I took a picture, then changed the image using the negative feature. This is very similar to the printing process as it adds more detail and dimension to the subject image.

looks like a winner to me...Not many guys with that body type that played in that era.
Reminds me a little of Mule Suttles, but I think the photo above is about as close at gets...and Suttles didn't appear to employ quite the upper cut swing from the images I've seen. I doubt you'll find any better match than Hack Wilson.

The stance matches up but the face isn't even close.
