2013 Topps Chrome Purple Refractor

The Purple Refractor – Inserted into Retail product, the Purple refractor most commonly appeared in what the hobby calls a Blaster Box. Typically, a Blaster Box had 7 packs of 4 cards each and one additional “Purple Refractor Bonus pack” (4 cards). Because of the power of retail (Walmart, Target, etc) the Purple Refractors are thought to be about as common as the standard Refractor noted above. The added color of a card with purple borders is the appeal and set builders and key player collectors gravitated to these parallels which generally released long after Topps Hobby Box product had moved on to other issues.

The Orange Refractor – Also inserted in Retail product, the Orange refractor most commonly appeared in what Topps issued as the Value Pack. This was a hanger pack for stores which contained 3 packs of 2013 Topps Chrome (4 cards each) and one cello pack of 3 Orange parallel refractors. Once again the border color variation was the draw for collectors. Lump these in with the parallel Hobby Refractors and Purple Refractors in terms of degree of difficulty.
