I'm looking for help with my daughter's Pokemon cards (circa 1999-2000). I know a little bit about them, but not much. There appears to be 3 different groups/series. One series is numbered to /62, another series is numbered to /64 and the last series is numbered to /102. The cards went straight from the packs to toploaders. She didn't play the game, only collected the cards - so they should all be mint. I remember the Charizard card was really popular at the time and worth a lot of money. I remember the day she pulled it from a pack and was really excited. Anyway, I want to sell the cards and give her the money, so I'm looking for ideas to maximize value. I know the holofoils are worth more than the base cards, so do I sell those separately? Or do I see them as a group/series? Hopefully someone can help. Here is what I have (only listed the holofoils):
Series 1 Numbered /62 (Fossil Logo) 1 Aerodactyl 2 Articuno 3 Ditto 4 Dragonite 6 Haunter 7 Hitmonlee 8 Hypno 9 Kabutops 10 Lapras 11 Magneton 12 Moltres 13 Muk 14 Raichu 15 Zapdos 16 thru 62 all there Series 2 Numbered /64 (Jungle Logo) 1 Clefable 2 Electrode 3 Flareon 4 Jolteon 5 Kangaskhan 6 Mr. Mime 7 Nidoqueen 8 Pidgeot 9 Pinsir 10 Scyther 12 Vaporeon 13 Venomoth (no logo) 14 Victreebel (no logo) 15 Vileplume 16 Wigglytuff 17 thru 64 all there Series 3 Numbered /102 (No Logo) 1 Alakazam 2 Blastoise 3 Chansey 4 Charizard 5 Clefairy 6 Gyarados 7 Hitmonchan 8 Machamp 9 Magneton 10 Mewtwo 11 Nidoking 12 Ninetales 13 Poliwrath 16 Zapdos 17 thru 102 all here She has some Yu-Gi-Oh cards too (maybe around 600). I didn't even know she had them. I bought her all the Pokemon cards, I don't know where she got the Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I'm guessing there probably from around the same time (20 years ago). Those, too, look to be very nice condition. |

So if they look like the Charizard does, then they're part of the unlimited set. There's two variants of unlimited, there is unlimited shadowless and regular unlimited. You have the Latter, you can tell due to the picture and also the spacing of the four fire energy symbols. The shadowless variant has the four symbols a little bit closer to one another.
1st edition is usually denoted by a small number one on the bottom left hand side, right under the picture of the Pokemon. The foils are obviously worth something, even if their plain old unlimited foils. I cannot speak for how they would be graded, as I never graded any of mine but it's typically worth to grade if you are selling, just like any other trading card. PSA slabs are king, and typically bring the highest. Edit: I cannot speak to the "sell as a set, vs sell individual" I'd maybe consult an expert on that end.
